Chi segue questo blog, e sono molti, non può dire che non lo sapeva o che fosse una novità, perché giusto ieri avevo magnificato la discesa di Miquel Trave in qualifica, soprattutto per il fatto che l’ho visto remare, scusate influenze brasiliane, pagaiare leggero come una farfalla pungente come un’ape. Tanto per parafrasare il grande Muhamed Ali! Il catalano ha compiuto il 6 gennaio scorso 25 anni ed è entrato oggi nel pieno della maturità agonistica vincendo alla grande un campionato europeo che sembrava dover essere ad esclusivo appannaggio del campione olimpico Nicolas Gestin.  Certo qualcuno potrà obiettare che se il padrone di casa non avesse toccato malamente l’ultima porta non ci sarebbe stato scampo per nessuno, ma con i se e  con i ma non si va da nessuna parte, tanto più che quel tocco forse non era solo da penalizzare con un due, ma forse con qualche punto in più! Ne era sicuro anche Ziga Lin Hocevar che, inquadrato dalla telecamera, evidenzia con la mano destra il massimo della penalità! Molti dubbi c’erano stati pure per la decisone del giorno prima per Debliquy nel passaggio risalita 15 quando era andato lungo ed era passato prima nella 16. 

Quindi onore e merito a Miquel Trave, seguito passo dopo passo dal babbo e dalla mamma che, presenti ad ogni gara, gli trasmettono fiducia e amore.  Il neo campione europeo ha iniziato la stagione alla grande partecipando a sette gare prima di questo europeo e ottenendo sempre finali oltre a tre podi in gare ICF Ranking di alto livello come alla Pyrenees Cup di Pau e La Seu. Ha curato la preparazione invernale in Australia e anche nella terra dei canguri aveva preso due finali. Nel suo curriculum ci sono  9 partecipazioni ai  campionati europei assoluti entrando in finale 4 volte e vincendo 3 medaglie (due a squadre e una individuale nel 2022 a Liptovský Mikuláš). Sono 6 le sue presenze ai Campionati del Mondo con alterne fortune. Il piccolo pagaiatore,  nato e cresciuto sul canale olimpico di La Seo, è figlio di uno dei manutentori del centro e  ha iniziato a pagaiare quasi ancora prima di imparare a camminare. È allenato da Anaïs Bouchet, una coach  francese trasferita in Spagna nel 2006  a La Seu d’Urgell, inizialmente al seguito di Samuel Hernanz poiché era  legata sentimentalmente a lui, con qualche velleità di fare l’atleta. Poi  nel 2009 ha iniziato a collaborare con la squadra iberica come allenatrice. Miquel Trave  a Parigi é stato bravo in ogni fase vincendo le qualifiche prima e  lasciando Gestin ad oltre 1 secondo e mezzo; poi in semifinale  vince ancora e il caso ha voluto con lo stesso tempo di Gestin: 89.70. Il francese per dovere di cronaca aveva quel tempo con una penalità, penalità che  saranno proprio il tallone di Achille del campione olimpico a questi campionati europei. 

La finale lo vede partire penultimo, lasciando al francese il compito di chiudere le danze. La prima parte della sua finale non è esaltante, ma è regolare, infatti alla porta 8, primo intermedio, viaggia con un centesimo dal momentaneo leader di classifica Hocevar.  Il ritardo aumenta alla 14  e accumula altri 72 centesimi di distacco. Nella parte centrale non sbaglia nulla, tra le due risalite è un fulmine e la barca sembra non toccare l’acqua. Arriva alla 20 con un vantaggio di 66 centesimi che significa aver guadagnato 1.38 sulle ultime 4 porte riuscendo a mantenere un’accelerazione impressionante cosa che lo porta ad aggiunge altri 31 centesimi al suo distacco positivo da Hocevar che finirà terzo. Secondo Gestin con quel 50 condonato.  

Bravi anche i due italiani in finale nella canadese monoposto che, dopo aver fatto una semifinale di tutto rispetto, si sono persi un pochino nell’atto conclusivo. In modo particolare Martino Barzon con 6 penalità , troppe per aspirare alla top 5 nonostante un tempo notevole, chiude in nona posizione. Paolo Ceccon chiude come in semifinale al sesto posto con un tempo segnato da alcuni errori lungo la discesa e forse anche da una mancanza di cambi di ritmo che su questo tracciato hanno avuto un’importanza notevole. 

Di tutte le altre gare vi parlerò nei prossimi giorni, ora, dopo le finali del Kayak Cross, è tempo di concentrarsi sul tennis con la finale degli internazionali di Roma!
